I offer a supportive, collaborative space where you can explore what is happening for you, develop greater awareness, & begin to understand some of the patterns that may be affecting how you feel, think & relate to others.
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma or a significant change in your life. Sometimes there may be no clear reason at all — just a feeling that things aren't quite right, or that you are finding life harder to navigate than you would like.
I also have a particular interest in ADHD, including supporting adults who are beginning to recognise traits & patterns in themselves.
More about ADHD counsellingMy core approach is person-centred.
Person-centred counselling begins with your experience. I listen without assuming that I know what is best for you, and we decide together what to focus on.
I don't believe counselling should be about fitting you into a particular model or following a set formula. Everyone brings their own experiences, relationships, strengths & ways of coping, so I adapt the way we work to you & what you need.
My training & experience have given me different ways of exploring what may be happening. We might look at patterns in relationships, at how you have learned to respond to yourself & others, at what you notice in the present moment, or explore something creatively when words don't quite capture what you are trying to express.
Creative approaches are always optional. You don't need to think of yourself as creative, & there is never any expectation that you will draw, make or create something. For some people it simply provides another way of exploring an experience.
I work collaboratively. Where something doesn't feel helpful, we can find another way.
